I live in Los Angeles, CA and I build projects. I'm most well known as the world's first (and only) publicly traded person.
I created KmikeyM where I sell shares in myself. That almost became a movie. Now it might be a TV show.
Previously I spent time as the Creator + Community Evangelist at Roll, I worked at Sandwich Video, making commercials for (mostly) tech companies. Before that I co-founded Chroma, a protocol software studio. I'm an alumnus of the Barclay's Fintech Accelerator as well as the Nike+ Accelerator. I've done some other things like design games, write VR scenarios, host web-reality shows, produce and host podcasts, run mini-blog empires, and I served in the US Army.
I haven't been to college (yet) but I consider the ten years I had at Panic a sort of apprenticeship. And I love to read, so that is kind of like school, right? Oh, I did take a fabrication course at an art school once.
You canāt have a market with only one person. Capitalism, for all its many flaws, is about people. Iāve applied the impersonal and detached model of the corporation to my personal life, and surprisingly, it has paid dividends in form of friends.
When I face a hard choice I turn to my shareholders. I give them explicit control. It sounds extraordinary (maybe even dystopian), but we all turn to people for advice (family, close friends, maybe a psychic hotline). Having shares allows people to literally invest in me, but we all have āshareholders.ā
No one likes to think they are ācontrolledā but especially in the age of the algorithm we ignore how much we are being manipulated. But by intentionally giving up control to others we are actually demonstrating how in control we are.
